    Direction: southern, eastern, western. Cutting: Dr Ruppel belongs to cut group 2, which means that a small cut between November and February is recommended, cutting shoots in half, reducing the plant to approximately 70-100 cm above the ground.

    Flowers abundantly twice a year,  in June-July and then from August to September when has slightly smaller blooms. Grows up to 2.5m height, best in sunny place.

    Should be planted every 0.5-1m in a regular garden soil.

    Moderate pruning, should be done higher in the coming years.

    Fertilize regularly.

    Clematis ‘Jackmanii’

    Is the most popular and widely grown deciduous vine which gets covered with a velvety dark purple flowers with four or five sepals, fading to violet over time with white or cream stamens.

    Blooms profusely beginning in midsummer and then again with smaller flowers in early fall.  May produce double flowers the first time and single the second time.  

    Can be grown in full sun or light shade, but its base and roots must be completely shaded with perennials, annuals or small shrubs. Need a trellis or other support on which to grow.  Grows up to 3m in height.

    Grow in fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Vining hybrids are best sited in locations where the flowering parts of the vine are in sun to part shade but the roots are shaded. Some light afternoon shade is usually beneficial in hot and humid summer climates such as the St. Louis area. Clematis vines need a trellis or other support on which to grow.
