Blueberry ’Chandler’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Chandler’)
General description: A new variety, very fertile, yielding the largest, tasty fruit. Fruit appear in mid-July and at the end of the second half of August.
Fruit: very large fruits - 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, light blue, firm and very tasty.
Fruit intended primarily for direct consumption as well as for preserves.
Requirements / Cultivation: sunny and secluded position. Soil conditions: acidic soil pH 3.8-4.8, light and permeable. It is recommended to mulch the soil around the plants, which prevents weed infestation and water evaporation.
Blueberry ’Bonus’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Bonus’)
General description: Medium-late fruiting variety. Loose shoots reaching up to 150 cm in height. Fully frost-free variety. Fruits are suitable for desserts and preserves, they can also be frozen.
Fruit: fruits are very large (3 cm), tasty, firm and sweet. They ripen in July.
Requirements / Cultivation: this variety has high soil requirements - permeable, light soil, acidic pH 3.5-4 ph., slightly moist.
Position: sunny or slightly shaded, at the same time sheltered.
Blueberry Bilberry ’Patriot’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Patriot’)
General description: One of the most valuable earlier maturing varieties. Shrub grows up to a height of 120cm, and in optimal conditions up to 180cm. Desert variety, also recommended for freezing.
Fruit: large, oval, navy blue covered with a blue wax coating, tasty and very aromatic. They begin to mature, in July, the puberty lasts about 3 weeks.
Requirements / Cultivation: this variety prefers strongly acidic and soil with a humus 3.5-4 pH.
It also tolerates heavier and wet soils. Position sunlit, warm. The plant is completely hardy.
Northern blueberry ’Rubel’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Rubel’)
Northern blueberry also called highbush and it’s a bush with very tasty and healthy fruits
Fruits are characterized by a high content of antioxidants, which have anti-cancer effect. Often used in food processing.
Fruits can be eaten straight from the bush when they reach a navy blue color.
Rubel variety bears fruits regulary and abundantly in late July and August.
Bush should grow in acidic soil, humus soil, on sunny and humid place.
The bush is very frost-resistant, withstands temperature to -37 C degrees . It grows up to 2-3 m.
Very easy to grow. Blueberries should be planted 1.5-2.5 m from each other.
Ideal variety for plantation and mechanic harvest.
Covered by red leaves when autumn starts.
Blueberry Bilberry ’Denise Blue’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Denise Blue’)
A variation of Australian origin.
General description: The shrub is characterized by a compact structure and reaches a height of 150-180 cm. Easy to grow, ideal for amateur growing. Blueberry should be planted at intervals of 1.5 - 2.5 meters.
Requirements / Cultivation: A self-pollinating variety, however, to improve yield, it is recommended to plant it in groups. Requires light and humus soil, acidic pH 3.8 - 4.8 pH., and sunlit and warm positions. Variety resistant to frost (-34 °C), and resistant to anthracnose and fungal diseases. Very good blueberry for planting on plantations.
Fruit: fruits are blue, sweet, but slightly sour. The length of the fruit is 1.4 cm, the diameter is 1.9 cm, the weight of the fruit is about 1.8 g. A very fertile variety, from one shrub can be harvested even up to 8 kg of fruit.
Highbush blueberry Bilberry ’Spartan’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Spartan’)
General description: early variety of blueberry, ripening in mid-July. Variety recommended for home gardens. It is a flake variety, quite resistant to frost with slightly branched shoots of a spherical shape.
Fruit: Large, flattened fruit in blue colour. Loose clusters.
Maturation / Flowering: bears fruit at the end of July,
Requirements / Cultivation: Requires light soils with an acid reaction. Requires a sunny or slightly shaded place.
Blueberry Bilberry ’Elizabeth’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Elizabeth’)
General description: Intensively growing shrub with very heavy fruiting. Shrub hardy and relatively easy to grow. It's great for cakes and desserts. It grows up to 1.8m.
Fruit: large fruits, dark blue, sweet, aromatic.
Maturation / Flowering: matures in July / August.
Requirements / Cultivation: Requires fertile soil with an acidic pH. The best date for cutting is the period of early spring. Planting at a distance of 1.5 m from each other.
American Bilberry ’Pink Lemonade’ (Vaccinium corymbosum ’Pink Lemonade’)
Is much sweeter than most blueberries and with a firm, pleasant texture. It’s fruits are pink and excellent for eating or in a variety of dishes. The harvest will continue on into fall. Will grow to up to 150 cm in height with an identical spread.
The plant produces showy pink flowers in spring and gold and orange foliage in fall.
First, the fruits are light green during vegetation, then light pink, and finally they mature to a deep pink colour. Ripens in late July to early August. Self-pollinating.
It is suitable for planting as an ornamental fruit plant in a mixed bed or mixed border.
