Virginia Creeper is perfect for pergolas, fences, gazebos, porches, as a groundcover, etc. Looks like quinquefolia Murorum, but is devoid of suckers or has them underdeveloped. The stems twist around supports with tendrils and reach a lower height than the previous species.

    It likes both sunny and shaded spots.

    Vyvyan Pennell’_ ’Vyvyan Pennell’ is a large, deciduous climber with glossy, dark-green leaves. Produces two sorts of large, luxuriant flowers in the same year. In May and June the flowers are mauve, large, double and in August and September the flowers are single and lavender-blue with cream stamens.

    Will reach a height of 3m and a spread of 1m after 2-5 Years.

    Can be grown in full sun or light shade, but its base and roots must be completely shaded with perennials, annuals or small shrubs. Need a trellis or other support on which to grow.

    Prefers to be grown in moist, well-drained, fertile, slightly alkaline soil.

    Light fertilizing and watering during dry periods will help to sustain strong re-growth and eventually more flowering also necessary to prune lightly.
