Magnolia ’Betty’ (Magnolia ’Betty’)
It is a slow-growing shrub or small tree that grows to 3-4m height.
’Betty’ is a late-blooming magnolia (April to May) thus reducing the risk of damage to flowers from late spring frosts.
Flowers bloom shortly before the foliage begins to appear. The flowers are large reddish-purple with white inside.
Plants may sporadically repeat bloom in mid-summer.
It can be grown in partial shade but does best in full sun.
It prefers acidic, organic, well drained soils but not extremely dry.
Perfect for lawns, foundations, shrub borders or woodland peripheries. May be grown as a tall informal hedge.
